Just a few short miles from the famous town of Kendal, Crooklands Hotel is a family-owned retreat where warmth, heritage and understated romance come together beautifully. From the moment I arrived, it was clear to me that no expense had been spared in its thoughtful refurbishment, yet the hotel still retains the historic character that makes it so special. The bedrooms are designed, balancing comfort, style and practicality, making them ideal for a relaxing escape. Originally a farmhouse dating back to the 1700s, the inn is atmospheric, with wooden beams, roaring log fires and the unmistakable charm of a true country retreat. Sharing a relaxed meal here feels effortlessly romantic. For something a little more refined, the hotel’s restaurant is impressive. Head chef Gareth Taylor has worked here for over a decade, and his experience, confidence and passion make him exactly the right person to trust with your special evening.
