Cashel Folk Village
Review
Sitting at the foot of the iconic Rock of Cashel, the award winning Cashel Folk Village and museum is one of those rare attractions that turns a quick stop into a proper deep-dive into Irish life. No visit to this super-historic town feels complete without stepping through the village doors. Run by local historian Bernard Minogue, part of a proud lineage of guides who have long brought the Rock’s stories to life, this museum delivers history with warmth and wit. You’ll move from the Irish Revolution to the unforgettable Famine, pausing at the Garden of Remembrance and marvelling at the Traveller (Gypsy/Tinkers) caravan. I loved the recreated cottage and classroom; you can almost hear the past breathing. Every corner has a story, a detail, or a fun fact that sticks with you. With a modest entrance fee, it’s outstanding value for money and a genuinely memorable companion to the Rock.

Cashel Palace Hotel
In the heart of Cashel, where centuries of history rise above the rooftops, the Cashel Palace Hotel feels like a love letter to Irish hospitality. I normally judge a property after a tour and a quick chat; this time I was lucky enough to stay, and for once I genuinely ran out of words.
