The Animalarium is featured as one of our hidden gem attractions for the Ceredigion/ Cardigan Bay chapter. Some people, even local businesses in Borth think it is easy to open a zoo, farm park or any attraction that looks after animals, but the team here at the Animalarium can testify that it most certainly isn’t. I liken running such an attraction, the same as eating lobster, it’s a lot of hard work, for very little reward. However, here at the Animalarium, hidden within the centre of Borth, you can get more up close and personal with that wild curiosity that we all share when it comes to the worlds cutest of creatures and with a wide selection of animals here, this farm park brings in and cares for rescued animals that wouldn’t usually be housed in normal zoos and farm parks. We have featured Animalarium in three previous Wales books and now with fairly new owners, despite inheriting a mammoth task ahead of them and the challenges that befall such an attraction, I am very confident that the Tweedy family can make sure that your visit to this attraction is one that will stay in the memory for a long time. Knowing and hearing about just some of their plans, I’m sure that when I return, I’ll be featuring them into a fifth Top 100 Attractions in Wales book.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The cafe here at the Animalarium offers light bites, cakes and good coffee and is housed within their reception and farm park shop. All the money that comes through the tills at this cafe goes to help house, look after and feed the animals, so every penny you spend, you know it’s going to a very worthy cause. Obviously, this isn’t a full on restaurant that is open in the evenings, but the food that is on offer here is done to a very good standard and even if your not visiting the farm park, you can still drop in for a cuppa and a sandwich or even a home baked scone. 113 So next time your in the area, why don’t you swing by, excuse the pun and say hi to the team, who will me only to keen to welcome you.
