Based in Villierstown, this not-for-profit social enterprise has grown into one of the area’s most enjoyable attractions, and having endorsed it in the previous edition of this book, it is wonderful to see how far it has developed. The guided boat trips remain a fantastic way to experience the beauty, wildlife and stories of the Blackwater, but there is now even more to enjoy. With self-drive boats, kayaking, walking trails and the welcoming community boathouse, this is an attraction with real heart behind it. It is affordable, authentic and suitable for families, couples, groups or solo explorers. Places like this deserve real support, because they give visitors genuine memories while benefiting the local community. Don’t miss it, this is highly recommended, Blackwater Eco Tours is a real gem.

Blackwater Eco Pods are a wonderful extension of the same community spirit behind the very popular Blackwater Eco Boat Tours, and they offer a stay that feels both authentic and refreshingly different.
