Belvoir Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, is a true jewel among Britain's historic houses, making it a well-deserved entry in my Top 100 Historic Houses in the British Isles & the Island of Ireland book. This 11th-century masterpiece, now in its fourth incarnation, commands a breathtaking view over three counties, highlighting its true strategic significance. The castle's rich history is brought to life by an exceptional team of tour guides who expertly share their extensive knowledge of Belvoir's past and present and I thoroughly enjoyed my tour. The dedication of the present Duke and Duchess is evident; they not only reside within these storied walls but also actively engage in preserving its legacy. Their presence adds a unique, personal touch to every visit. Belvoir Castle stands as a real testament to the enduring importance of heritage, combining history, beauty, and modern-day stewardship in an unforgettable experience.
